Buzzard Yurt

Walk the magical pathway into the vegetable field, through the wildflowers, edged with lavender bushes and sunflowers, up to Buzzard yurt. Enjoy the extensive views across the Axe valley from the wooden veranda, perfect for sunrise cups of tea or yoga stretches and moonrise cuddles and hot chocolates.

Buzzard yurt is an 18ft dark green yurt, oak framed and handmade by Peter in Wales.

Inside the yurt is carpeted and furnished with a king size bed, bunkbeds and bedside tables .

The yurt is off grid, so lighting is by Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels.

A woodburner will keep you cosy in the evenings if needed (we provide the first basket of logs for free) There is a simple gas cooker for making hot drinks.

The yurt has a grassy lawn area, a picnic table and a wood fired earth oven for the more adventurous slow cooks. Views over the vegetable terraces.

Relax in a hammock under the walnut and damson trees.

A private compost toilet is near your yurt, the ultimate ‘loo with a view!’ Using compost toilets saves water (no flushing!) and also recycles the ‘waste’ rather than creating pollution. We provide recycled toilet paper from ‘who gives a crap’

Outside the toilet, under a field maple tree, is a handwashing sink.

Back down the wildflower path towards the house there is Buzzard kitchen. The kitchen is on mains electricity is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery, pots and pans and has a table and chairs for eating meals. It has a 4 ring gas hob and electric oven plus kettle, toaster and fridge with a small ice compartment. Outside the kitchen is an undercover area and hooks for coats and boots.

Next to the kitchen is Buzzard hut and shower. Buzzard hut has books and games plus a double futon (can be used for sleeping if you need extra space) and WIFI / ethernet cable for laptops. The shower uses water heated from the house log boiler/ solar system.

All water at Holyford is from natural springs. We filter and treat the water with a UV filtering system. We supply basic eco-leaf washing up liquid, shampoo and body wash. There is a shared washing machine available to use  on site. We ask for a £4 donation per wash and we provide eco- washing liquid. We do not have a tumbledrier, but have washing lines and clothes airers available. There are also launderettes available in nearby towns of Seaton and Axminster.
